Valerie Moss joined the staff at Buna Animal Hospital in January 2004. She has been involved with 4-H since her children were young and enjoys working with both small and large animals. Valerie and her husband, Denney, have been married since 1978. They have three children: Trevor Moss, Jordan Moss Branch and Logan Moss Warner. They also have one grandson, Cameron and a graddaughter, Bristol Clarie, born in 2015. The Moss family includes three dogs and two cats. In her spare time, Valerie enjoys working in the yard, reading and swimming. Valerie also enjoys attending high school athletic events, but has been adjusting to an empty nest and suffering a little bit of sports withdrawal since her youngest daughter, Logan, graduated in 2011.
Summer joined the staff as a kennel assistant in August 2011 and was promoted to technician trainee in July 2012. She loves working with animals and says her coworkers are like family. Summer has horses and what some of her friends call her "mini horse", a Great Dane named Marley. In her spare time, summer enjoys riding and training horses with her family.

Lila joined Buna Animal Hospital st the age of 5 weeks in February 2014. She has grown up in the clinic and loves interact with the patients but she isn't afraid to show her tough side after hours. Lila lives at Buna Animal Hospital and takes her job as security officer seriously. She brightens every day with her quirky personality and she can be a bit of a clown.
Yard Maintenance/Computer Technician
Kevin is the son of Dr Kim and Dr Dennis. He is an honor student at Lamar University in Beaumont where he is majoring in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. He is an active member at First Baptist Church Buna and a 2013 graduate of Buna High School. Kevin works part time doing computer maintenance, yard maintenance and odd jobs. He also holds a job as a tutor at Lamar University. He enjoys playing trombone and tenor drums. He is also proficient with robotics and computers. He recently built his "dream computer" for school and gaming. He enjoys hunting (rifle and bow) as well as martial arts and is working toward his black belt in taekwando. Kevin excels in science and plans to pursue a position in the computer programming field after graduation from Lamar University in 2017.
Veterinary Assistant (Part Time)
Sarah is the daughter of Dr Kim and Dr Dennis. She is a 2016 honor graduate of Buna High School and active in the youth department at First Baptist Church Buna. She will be attending Lamar University in Beaumont, majoring in biology. She plans to pursue a career in medicine and become a surgeon. Sarah will also be a member of the Lamar Cardinal Track and Cross Country teams. Sarah spends her time at Buna Animal Hospital comforting the patients who are boarding or hospitalized. She is also custodian and kennel technician, while training as a veterinary assistant. When she isn't spending time with her parents at work, she enjoys volleyball, running track, cross country running and pole vaulting. This summer she is volunteering her time with the Beaumont Track Club. She is a former member of the Beaumont Track Club where she was a Hershey state finalist for Texas in the 800 meter in 2010. In 2011 she switched to the 1600 meter run, placing 3rd at the Hershey State Meet of Texas. In 2012, she became the 1600 meter Hershey Texas State Champion, winning the Gold medal. She also runs the 3200 meter (2 mile) and pole vaults. In the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Sarah won Gold medals in 1600 meter, 3200 meter and pole vault at the regional level and represented Beaumont Track Club at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation state meet. She was named the Beaumont Track Club Harold W Smith award winner for dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship for the 2011 season. Sarah was Regional Gold medalist in pole vault at the USA Junior Olympics and competed nationally in the Junior Olympics in pole vault during summer 2014. She is a member of the Lady Cougar volleyball team and the Lady Cougar varsity track team. She holds the Buna High School records in 800 meter, 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs.
Veterinary Assistant (Part Time)
Shelby is the daughter of Dr Kim and Dr Dennis. She is a 2016 honor graduate of Buna High School and active in the youth department at First Baptist Church Buna. Shelby will be attending Lamar University to pursue a Master's degree in business and wants to obtain a real estate license. Shelby will also be playing volleyball for the Lamar Lady Cardinals. Like her twin sister, Shelby's job at Buna Animal Hospital is comforting the patients. She also doubles as kennel technician, veterinary assistant and custodian. Shelby particularly enjoys watching when her mom delivers puppies or kittens by c-section. Recently, she has been raising baby squirrels on a bottle. Shelby loves her pets and has quite a menagerie which includes chickens and a French Bulldog named LT in addition to the family dogs and cats. When she isn't spending time with her parents at work, she enjoys volleyball and track. She has run for Beaumont Track Club and was a Hershey state finalist for Texas in the long jump. She ran on the mile relay where her team placed eleventh at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation state meet in 2010 and competed again at the state level in 2011. Shelby was a member of the Lady Cougar varsity volleyball team and varsity track team. She was a member of the District Champion mile relay team for the Lady Cougars in 2011 and 2012, which was undefeated in District 2A. In 2013, Shelby was a member of the 1600 meter relay team, advancing to the 3A Area meet and setting a new school record in 2014. She advanced to regionals in 2016 as a member of the record setting 1600 meter relay & 800 meter relay teams. Shelby holds the Buna High School record for 400 meter run, high jump, 1600 meter relay and 800 meter relay. Shelby enjoys competing in the high jump during track season. Shelby plays flute and is a talented artist and painter. She won first place in the 2012 Art Show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for her drawing of two wolves at battle.

The Buna Animal Hospital family is grieving the loss of our beloved Lucy, who passed away November 5, 2013 at the age of 9 years 11 months and 2 days. Lucy joined the practice in January 2004 at the age of 5 weeks. She was raised in the clinic and guarded the office 24 hours a day. She greeted visitors during the business day, and showed her tough side after hours. Her favorite daytime activity was protecting the rest of the staff from the UPS man. She will be greatly missed.
Jordan Branch joined our staff in December 2011. She and her family moved from Amarillo to Buna in early 2000 to be near her grandmother. She is married with one son, Cameron. She and her husband, Jack, were blessed with a daughter, Bristol Claire, in August 2015. When Bristol arrived, Jordan decided to leave Buna Animal Hospital to be a full time mom for a while. She has two dogs, a Great Pyrenees named Trixie and Rogue, a Bull Mastiff cross. In her spare time, Jordan enjoys spending time with her family and doing outdoor activities.
Pamela Matkin joined our staff at Buna Animal Hospital in April 1996. Pam and her husband, Bobby, have been married over 32 years and have two children, Justin and Krystal. They also have three grandchildren, Cassidy, Matthew and Kalynn. Pam has been working with animals most of her life, having been around veterinary hospitals as a child. She was also involved in 4-H and horse events. In December 2011, Pam retired to spend more time with her grandchildren and to act as office manager for B&P Pump Services, which she co-owns with her husband. Pam can still be found at Buna Animal Hospital occassionally, filling in when someone takes a vacation or sick day.
Cindy Charlton worked full time as the receptionist at Buna Animal Hospital for three years. Cindy loves animals and her family includes several dogs and cats. She also shares her home with her husband, Phillip and granddaughter, Kate. Cindy's hobbies are gardening, making pottery and sculpting faces. Cindy decided to retire, but will continue working on occasion to fill in for other staff on vacation days, sick days etc.
Amy has been married to her husband, Algie, since September 2005. Her wedding was relocated by Hurricane Rita at the last moment, but continued as planned a little further north. Amy enjoys horses and barrel races in her spare time. She and Algie have a small farm and she left Buna Animal Hospital to care for the horses on her parents' farm. Amy can occasionally be seen at Buna Animal Hospital filling in for other staff members during vacation or sick days.
Ashley joined the staff of Buna Animal Hospital as a kennel assistant and custodian in summer 2007. She married her husband, Randy, in June 2011. Ashley continued to work for Buna Animal Hospital until July 2012, when she and Randy welcomed their beautiful daughter, Autumn home. Ashley and Randy will be adding a son to their growing family in late July 2014.
