Pam Matkin
Veterinary Technician
Pamela Matkin joined our staff at Buna Animal Hospital in April 1996. Pam and her husband, Bobby, have been married 30 years and have two children, Justin and Krystal. They also have three grandchildren, Cassidy, Matthew and Kalynn. Pam has been working with animals most of her life, having been around veterinary hospitals as a child. She was also involved in 4-H and horse events. She enjoys caring for and working with large and small animals. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, riding reining horses and competing in horse competitions.
Valerie Moss
Veterinary Technician/Receptionist
Valerie Moss joined the staff at Buna Animal Hospital in January 2004. She has been involved with 4-H since her children were young and enjoys working with both small and large animals. Valerie and her husband, Denney, have been married for 31 years. They have three children: Trevor, Jordan and Logan They also have one grandson, Cameron. The Moss family also includes three dogs and two cats. In her spare time, Valerie enjoys working in the yard, reading, swimming and attending high school athletic events.
Amy Tuttle
Receptionist/Technician
Amy has been married to her husband, Algie, since September 2005. Her wedding was relocated by Hurricane Rita at the last moment, but continued as planned a little further north. Amy enjoys horses and barrel races in her spare time.
Cindy Charlton
Receptionist
Cindy Charlton worked as the receptionist at Buna Animal Hospital for three years. Cindy loves animals and her family includes three dogs: a Great Dane named Greta, a red heeler mix named Muffy and a chi-pom named Mini Muff. She has four cats: Nelly, Ollie, Maxine and Elmo. She also shares her home with her husband, Phillip and granddaughter, Kate. Cindy's hobbies are gardening, making pottery and sculpting faces. Cindy has decided to retire, but will continue working on occasion to fill in for other staff on vacation days, sick days etc.
Lucy
Head Of Security/Official Greeter
Lucy joined the practice in December 2003 at the age of 5 weeks. She was raised in the clinic and guards the office 24 hours a day. She greets visitors during the business day, and shows her tough side after hours. Her favorite daytime activity is protecting the rest of the staff from the UPS man.
Ashley Burch
Kennel Assistant/custodian
Ashley Burch has been with Buna Animal Hospital as a kennel assistant and custodian since summer 2007. She enjoys her job and says her co-workers are "awesome." She is a member of the Buna High School Class of 2011 where she is active in sports. She enjoys playing basketball and volleyball, going mudding and hanging out with her friends. Although Ashley has red hair, she has been accused by her co-workers of having too many "blonde" moments.
Ashley is also active in the auto mechanics class at Buna High and competes in the Auto Skills USA. We want to congratulate her for placing first in her category for the second year in a row and winning Best of Show at Skills USA competition for the state of Texas! Ashley also won a blue ribbon at the competition for her written notebook in Automotive Skills. Ashley is the first student from her school to win a Best of Show at the state level.
Kevin Foster
Yard Maintenance
Kevin is the son of Dr Kim and Dr Dennis. He is an honor student at Buna High School and active in the youth group at First Baptist Church Buna. Kevin works part time doing yard maintenance and odd jobs. He enjoys playing trombone and tenor drums in the drum line for the Buna Mighty Cougar Band. He enjoys science and wants to study aerospace engineering in college.
Sarah Foster
Volunteer
Sarah is the daughter of Dr Kim and Dr Dennis. She is an honor student at Buna Junior High School and active in the youth department at First Baptist Church Buna. Sarah spends her time at Buna Animal Hospital comforting the patients who are boarding or hospitalized. When she isn't spending time with her parents at work, she enjoys volleyball, basketball and tumbling. She is a member of the Beaumont Track Club where she was a Hershey state finalist for Texas in the 800 meter run. She also runs the mile and placed tenth in the state at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation state meet in 2010. Sarah plays clarinet in the junior high band. She is a member of the Lady Cougar volleyball team and plans to play basketball and run track for the Lady Cougars.
Shelby Foster
Volunteer
Shelby is the daughter of Dr Kim and Dr Dennis. She is an honor student at Buna Junior High School and active in the youth department at First Baptist Church Buna. Like her twin sister, Shelby's job at Buna Animal Hospital is comforting the patients. Shelby dreams of being a veterinarian when she grows up. She particularly enjoys watching when her mom delivers puppies or kittens by c-section. When she isn't spending time with her parents at work, she enjoys volleyball, basketball and tumbling. She is a member of the Beaumont Track Club and was a Hershey state finalist for Texas in the long jump. She ran on the mile relay where her team placed eleventh at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation state meet in 2010. Shelby also enjoys competing in the high jump during track season and plays flute in the junior high band. She is a member of the Lady Cougar volleyball team and plans to play basketball and run track for the Lady Cougars.
